The challenge

This year ECCO launched a new concept and replaced its traditional “exhibition hall” by the OncoHub, an area where all interaction and information exchange took place. Instead of using small and large booths, the delegates came into contact with a number of “hub” areas. Each hub, represents a company or a society and consists of tables or high bars and seating.

Through its 25 Member Societies – representing over 80,000 professionals – ECCO (the European CanCer Organisation) is the only multidisciplinary organisation that connects and responds to all stakeholders in oncology Europe-wide.

The challenge

The element of surprise is very important during this event, every year we try to organize something completely new or surprising. This year our theme was ‘Back to the Future’. Together with our speaker Jan Andreae we went back to the year 1999, a year when we were not constantly online and just had time to quietly talk to each other.

Jan Andreae gave an interactive workshop about the current demanding time and how we can deal with this kind of pressure. As a surprise, we had the pleasure to introduce no one other than Mathilde Santing, who integrated her beautiful songs within the workshop.

It was a very special afternoon, which we concluded with a lively networking reception.

The challenge

ACS has recently signed a 3-year contract with ERA-EDTA, and therefore it has organized the AV and the construction of the halls this year. We have created 3 temporary rooms in hall 10 which together with 8 permanent rooms and 34 meeting rooms are fully facilitated with our audiovisuals. The temporary plenary space was the biggest and offered space to 2500 people.

We also contributed to the interactive poster sessions by installing the screens and the sound. This special poster desk was found among the many other stands at the conference.

The challenge

Friday (may 19^th, 2017) was the annual Amsterdam Business Award Gala. The event to bond and reward entrepreneurs and to stimulate any improvement of the economy and viability of the city and region of Amsterdam. This eight edition was bigger than ever and was held in the Okura Hotel.

As in previous years, ACS was again the main sponsor. Due to a clear layout of the room and good use of lighting, we have successfully transformed a large conference hall into an atmospheric space.

A large stage was built in front of the hall with projection screens on both sides for the presentation, award ceremony and music performances. The stage was perfectly illuminated with lamps from every angle and the room was equipped with fantastic show lighting.

The Challenge

On the 7th of March 2017 the opening ceremony took place in the eventhall of the NBC in Nieuwegein, using NBC’s fixed 3D projection screen. On behalf of the fashion show on the three seperate catwalks, ACS placed additional light fixtures as well as executed the camera recording. The direction was supplemented with additional Watchout-outputs and an extra Ascender. Watchout is a production and display system that easily combines images, animations, live video etc. into an impressive show. The Ascender is a multiscreen seamless switcher.

On the second day the hall was completely transformed into 2 separate rooms for product presentations. ACS facilitated light, video projection and sound.

Thursday the 9th the Gala Award dinner was held with an impeccable opening. For this the fixed 3D projection screen décor was supplemented with an tailor made skate park, mapped by means of 9 additional video projectors.

The Challenge

It took place in an exhibition hall, which we transformed into a conference venue with 14 temporary rooms and an auditorium. Together with Eventresult we made sure that the audiovisual and IT part were perfectly in touch. This time, we facilitated the livestreams through the website and Facebook.

After the opening on day 1, we did some changes over the night. We created three temporary rooms for the technical program that rotated parallel to each other.

The challenge

The temporarily large room, in which our queen participated on the front row for about half an hour, was created by us with big trusses and curtains. In the back of the room, our permanent staff of the Rai served the lighting.

In the G-corridor we facilitated two satellite rooms with audiovisual equipment. On the stage an informal setting was created with a lectern on the right for the usual presentations.

The challenge

ACS has arranged the AV and IT for both the 5 temporary and all the permanent rooms in the conference center. The largest temporary room served as plenary space and accommodated 3,000 people. People could also watch the spectacular opening show here. The halls outside ACS dressed with voile curtains and atmospheric lighting.

With regard to the IT, ACS, in association with Eventresult, delivered the presentation management system, the room information displays and the overflows, allowing fast switching between presentations flawlessly.

The Challenge

ACS transformed some of Fira’s exhibition halls into twenty temporary halls in total, including the plenary room where the ever-spectacular opening show takes place. The hall, with a capacity of up to 3000 people, was filled to the brim and even had some people following the show and presentations on the available overflow screens outside. In addition we fully supplied thirty meeting rooms with AV.

This year’s task was a particularly special one for ACS. Earlier in the year the company invested enormously in LED-lighting. ESC 2017 was the first congress to be completely equipped with more than 500 new LED lamps! ACS is currently the only company in the world capable of facilitating congresses and events of this scale entirely with LED-lighting.

ACS built 13 temporary rooms, three of which had an overflow technology. In addition, there were 3 permanent halls fully equipped with AV. ACS also facilitated a complete press area and members lounge.

ACS had set up the halls 10, 11, 12 and all the rooms adjacent to the E-hall for HR Tech 2017. Hal 10 and 11, where the presentations were held, were fully provided with AV. The same went for the rooms in hall E. In hall 12 where the fair took place, 3 small stages were also equipped with AV.

The screen in hall 11 was specifically designed and purchased for this event.
