Dream tracks 2024

ACS is enormously proud of its newest sound acoustic solutions, which can be seen being used here at the opening event of the new multi-dimensional experience ‘Dream tracks (Droomsporen)’ in the impressive Station Hall of the Maliebaan station – a beautiful space for a meeting in the Spoorwegmuseum in Utrecht, but complicated in terms of acoustics.

The Challenge

Having a conversation, let alone a presentation, can be challenging in a space where there is a lot of reverberation. Fortunately, ACS has many innovative solutions to improve the sound quality in a space like this, and our Sound Absorbing Cylinders is our newest solution that makes this problem a thing of the past. The speakers were therefore clearly audible and visitors could easily have a conversation during the drinks.

AMPLIFYING the EXPERIENCE

The Sound Absorbing Cylinders were placed in the Spoorwegmuseum for the opening of…  ‘Dream Tracks’ a new multi-dimensional experience in the Maliebaan station. These cylinders absorb the sound we don’t want to Amplify the Experience!

INSIGHT into HISTORY

The Railway Museum (Het Spoorwegmuseum) is the Dutch national railway museum. In 1954 it moved to the former Maliebaan station, in Utrecht. The museum offers a wonderful insight into the history of train travel, and can be hired for events.

The high ceilings in the Station Hall presented a challenge in terms of the acoustics. Thanks to ACS’s innovative ‘Sound Absorbing Cylinders’ – this problem was immediately removed. The effect was great, and it can be said with certainty that these cylinders are very effective at absorbing unwanted sound.

FUNCTIONAL and STYLISH

The Sound Absorbing Cylinders were hung from the two trusses, one positioned at the entrance of the room, and the other behind the stage. These cylinders were lit from above, so they were fully visible, as they are not only functional, but also stylish. ACS can use different coloured lights to make the cylinders appear as a different colour.

AV solutions & Presentation Management System

ACS was delighted to provide AV solutions throughout the IASP 2024 World Congress on Pain, including a 5-screen setup for the 4000 capacity plenary room, ACS’s Presentation Management System and supported Speaker Ready Room where speakers received technical assistance to upload, adjust and practice their presentations. All congress sessions were recorded for the client.

The Challenge & The Solution

The biggest challenge for any large size congress is to ensure that all the correct presentations are shown on the right screen, at the right time – throughout the congress. ACS has perfected a system that allows speakers to upload their presentations prior to the congress, adjust them if necessary, during the event, and then to present them on time, at the right location. ACS successfully implemented their Presentation Management System in 16 session rooms, over the course of the 5-day congress. All session room presentations were recorded for the client.

The IASP 2024 World Congress on Pain, brought together more than 5,000 scientists, clinicians, and healthcare providers from around the world and across pain disciplines to meet at their annual event in RAI Amsterdam.

Innovative Congress Solutions

Creating memorable and impactful experiences is an essential factor for congress organisers. So, when ACS was invited to assist in enhancing the overall attendee experience through open session rooms – we were delighted to explore innovative solutions designed to increase visibility, elevate engagement, and leave a lasting impression on all participants.

The Challenge

The European Society of Cardiology (ESC) wanted open, inviting congress session rooms. Rooms that were not isolated from the rest of the congress. The biggest challenge in opening up these areas is how to control the acoustics within the room. Our AV specialists worked tirelessly with acoustic consultants to find the optimal sound solutions, and developed the ‘Sound Absorbing Cylinders’ – large acoustic cylinders that when strategically hung, reduce unwanted noise from entering the room, and together with carefully placed glass walls amplify what matters most – the voices of the speakers.

Commitment to Innovation

Our commitment to innovation means that we are continuously refining how sound resonates within a room and we offer acoustic solutions that include sound-damping material such as curtains, carpets and furniture. These new Sound Absorbing Cylinders have been crafted from sustainable felt, made from recycled plastic bottles. So, these additions to our acoustic portfolio increase the acoustic performance and visual appeal of a sessions room, and also add a sustainable value to an event.

AV and Temporary Room supplier

ACS is the preferred AV and Temporary Room supplier to the European Society of Cardiology (ESC). The ESC is the world’s largest organisation of physicians dedicated to fighting heart disease and their annual congress is where the world’s leading cardiology experts convene to transform patient care and advance the field through ground-breaking research, pioneering technologies, and collaborative initiatives.

Extensive set of deliverables

The Sound Absorbing Cylinders, were of course not the only item provided by ACS for the ESC Congress 2024 London. We also constructed other temporary session rooms, and provided AV in 16 presentation areas; including the 3000 pax Plenary room, Digital Health Stage (through Silent Disco headphones), ESC TV, the Global Stage, as well as 10 lecture rooms.

ACS extends its relationship with ECTRIMS

ACS is delighted to extend our relationship with ECTRIMS – with a multi-year contract as their preferred AV supplier.

ECTRIMS is the European Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis, and it’s annual congress is a meeting place for researchers, clinicians and healthcare providers for all to collaborate on the next life-changing research and treatment options for people with MS and related diseases.

ACS supplied all of the essential elements to create a highly effective congress, including; lighting, projection, cameras, and audio. We also worked closely with the inhouse AV department/crew to coordinate everything and used a combination of own equipment, as well as some inhouse equipment.

The Challenge & The Solution

The challenge of this event was to create a Plenary room with a WoW factor!

This was achieved by using a combination of stage elements that spanned the entire width of the 80 metre room. We placed back lights and up lights, 3 horizontal screens, 2 vertical screens (for camera content), and two impressive globe light installations, which bookmarked the podium on both sides.

This 40th annual meeting attracted more than 8,500 delegates from all corners of the world. This year’s event featured an international range of speakers including keynote lectures and oral and poster presenters, together with expertly selected scientific and educational sessions, networking opportunities, and much more.

Presentations visible for every attendee

When a congress has a large number of attendees, it is always important that everyone can see and hear the speakers on the stage. For this, we place loudspeakers, and large projection screens to duplicate what is shown on the stage.

ESMO 2024 attracted more than 33,000 attendees

ACS looks back with great pride at the outstanding results of the ESMO 2024 congress, which drew more than 33,336 attendees from 156 countries · 592 invited speakers · 207 sessions, 20 tracks · 4580 submitted abstracts during the 5-day event in Fira Barcelona Gran Via from 13 – 17 September 2024.

The Challenge

The biggest challenge comes from the immense size of the congress, and that we must build so much in such a short time frame. Two halls needed to be finished within 36 hours; in one hall there was a room for 1500 pax, and an overflow area for 200 pax. In another hall – there were four 4 rooms with: 450 pax, 140 pax, 600 pax and 100 pax, as well as the overflow area with 600 seats.

How to facilitate a MEGA congress

ACS provided 70 skilled personnel to ensure the smooth running of this congress. Constructing 17 temporary session rooms, 9 overflow areas, 77 business rooms in cooperation with our partner Servis. Providing 3425 lights, 47 cameras, 27330 chairs, 31870 m2 of carpet, 760 m2 stage, 87104 m2 of curtains, 600 loud speakers, 166 wireless mics, 73 projectors, 1779 m2 of projection screens, and 80 LED displays.

Influential 5-day congress

This influential 5-day annual congress brings together clinicians, researchers, patient advocates, journalists and healthcare industry representatives from all over the world. ESMO 2024 disseminated the latest cutting-edge data, provided high-quality education and networking opportunities for oncologists and other stakeholders from all around the world.

ACS has played a pivotal role in enhancing the ESMO Congress through their cutting-edge audiovisual equipment and technical support.
