As part of our long-term decarbonisation strategy – ACS is committed to transitioning our delivery fleet to 100% electric. While electric vehicles offer zero tailpipe emissions, they currently come at a significantly higher upfront cost and require a supporting charging infrastructure, making the replacement of our full fleet a phased investment.
So, we have addressed this long-term challenge with a short-term solution, by taking immediate action to switch to using certified sustainable biofuel across our entire transportation fleet. This delivers us a significant reduction in transport-related emissions – today – and allows us to keep using our existing vehicles and infrastructure.
By combining short-term action with long-term planning, we are making meaningful progress toward cleaner, more sustainable transport operations and our Net Zero ambitions.

The emissions generated from our delivery vehicles both in the Netherlands and for international projects (see chart above) represent 51% of our carbon emissions. Until we transition to being fully electric, we needed to find a shorter-term solution to reduce these emissions at source.
So, as of 1 January 2026, we made the decision to switch to ONLY using HVO100 biofuel. This advanced biofuel offers up to 90% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and can be used directly in existing diesel engines without any modifications. HVO stands for ‘Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil’ and is made from waste cooking oils, animal fats and vegetable oils.

Biofuel offers several advantages over conventional diesel, particularly in terms of environmental sustainability and energy security. Because it is produced from renewable sources such as plants, vegetable oils, animal fats, and waste materials, biofuel helps reduce dependence on finite fossil fuels.
It generally produces lower greenhouse gas emissions since the plants used to make it absorb carbon dioxide during growth, helping offset emissions when the fuel is burned. In addition, biodiesel is biodegradable, less toxic in the event of spills, and can often be used in existing diesel engines with little or no modification.
By choosing cleaner technologies and encouraging sustainable habits across our value chain, we’re creating lasting, positive change for our business, our industry, and the environment.
