As the preferred AV and Temporary Room supplier to the European Society of Cardiology, ACS facilitated their flagship event; the ESC Congress 2023 Amsterdam in the RAI Amsterdam. The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) welcomed delegates to their 4-day international conference in various locations within RAI Amsterdam.
THE CHALLENGE
ACS worked in close collaboration with metroConnections to realise an impressive 3x LED screen wall stage presentation [19×6 metres + 2 side walls of 5×7 metres], ACS also provided all the AV for the breakout session rooms.
ACS had less than three months to organise the digital online platform and the studio from which NCHIVvirtual20 was presented. The programme consisted of both pre-recorded and “live”, interactive, components.

Every year in the lead up to World Aids Day, Stichting HIV Monitoring, Aidsfonds, RIVM, NVHB, AIGHD and Amsterdam UMC join forces to co-organize the Netherlands Conference on HIV (NCHIV – more info: www.nchiv.org).
Due to COVID-19, this year the 13th edition of NCHIV took place virtually on 24th & 26th November 2020 with maximum technical support by ACS audiovisual solutions.
The pre-recording of the presentations was done utilising the ACS Speaker Assisted Recording service. This offers a reliable solution for the organisation whereby the presenter can record their presentation from any location with the assistance of a standby technician.
The live and interactive components were broadcasted from a temporary studio in RAI Amsterdam. ACS also facilitated the lively Q&A sessions between the moderators in the studio, speakers from external locations and the participants at home. All content was made available afterwards on an on-demand platform.

On June 24, our relationship Jan Andreae & Partners organizes the online seminar / labyrinth: Leadership during and after Corona.
ACS will provide the technology for this.
In preparation for this, we facilitated a try out session from our own temporary studio last Friday. The 25 participants could easily switch on via a Zoom connection.
The reactions of the participants, all in strategic positions around the corona crisis, were extremely favorable. The technology also went smoothly. With a total of four speakers, several breakout rooms were needed. The content was recorded at a different location earlier that week.

In January of this year we jointly performed a production at an industrial hertitage venue called Sugar City, close to Amsterdam. We are very proud of the final result, in which different rooms divided over three floors were furnished with different setups and use of color.
ACS provided all AV facilities for the plenary hall on the ground floor, the attractively styled miniature greenhouses and and other breakout rooms.

Last Tuesday, December 3, our national department has set a new record by, at the time of writing, running its biggest event ever! On behalf of an international investment company we were allowed to furnish the entire Gashouder in Amsterdam with AV. Among other things, we placed an LED screen of 100 square meters big (20m W x 5m H)! And that for “only” a one-day event!

The photos show that our technicians have once again succeeded in turning a space full of exotic plants and animals into a business setting. They have placed a total of four 98-inch screens in the front of the room and in addition they have facilitated and operated the entire audio that day. With this, we have once again proven that ACS is the ideal partner to guide the client through the AV jungle full of technical concepts, abbreviations and jargon.

The 24th edition of the EHA annual conference took place this year from 13 to 16 June in the RAI Amsterdam. Two worlds came together for ACS in this congress: ACS as an in-house supplier of RAI Amsterdam and ACS as a traveling AV and IT supplier for annual congresses of a large association! This made EHA 2019 extra special for us.
The more than 11,000 participants were completely surprised in Amsterdam in the opening ceremony with a live Night Watch on stage. Speakers also regularly cited great Dutch masters, such as Vincent van Gogh and Antoni van Leeuwenhoek, in their speech. All have been important in their own way for the development of art and science in the Netherlands.
The opening ceremony took place in a temporary room, built and turnkey delivered by ACS, which offered space to 5,000 participants. Furthermore, ACS was also responsible for the other temporary rooms and for providing AV in both the temporary rooms and the fixed rooms, including the Elycium and Amtrium. Our brand Eventresult has facilitated IT services, such as the E-posters and the updated Presentation Management System, and offered support to speakers in the Speaker Service Center. New digital board tables were also used for the first time during the conference.
It were four intensive and successful days that we look back on with joy.

Recently ACS performed, in collaboration with Brownys Event Productions, a striking production at the KIT Royal Tropical Institute Amsterdam. We are very proud of the event’s look and feel, largely down to the use of an 8x3m curved LED screen. ACS also supplied the rest of the audio-visual facilities to make this event a great success.

In February, electric motor manufacturer Zero Motorcycles Inc. organized two events in Amsterdam to launch and present its new electric motor: the SR/F.
On Monday, February 25, a press conference was held in the Hotel Arena Amsterdam. The day after a dealer day took place at NH Schiphol. ACS was present both days; day 1 we highlighted the new motorcycles and did the sound and presentation. Day 2 we decorated the entire room with visual frame, light, sound, presentation and large projection.
Several parties were involved in the organization of the event. ACS has clearly taken the lead in this, which the customer greatly appreciated. She has therefore stated that she would like to involve ACS in future events!

From 23 to 27 July, the RAI Amsterdam was the setting for the 22nd International AIDS Conference. Around 24,000 people from more than 160 countries attended the event, which is organized once every two years. As a tribute to the former president of the International AIDS Society and the Dutchman Joep Lange, who died in the MH17 flight, the congress this time traveled to Amsterdam. The last time the largest congress in the field of HIV and AIDS took place in our country was in 1992. Big names like Prince Harry, Bill Clinton, Elton John and Charlize Theron all came to tell their story.
As the permanent AV supplier of the RAI Amsterdam, we look back on a fantastic week. For AIDS 2018 we were allowed to do all the temporary room building and AV. For example, we built up the main theater in hall 12, which offered space for 6,000 people, but could be reduced between the sessions to a capacity of 4,000 people. Furthermore, we created several temporary rooms in Hall 10 and 11. The same we did for the Global Village, which was open to the public.

ACS facilitated the European Cancer Congress, which was held from 27-30 Jan in Amsterdam RAI. Besides managing all AV and integrated branding, ACS constructed 8 temporary rooms in octagonal shape to meet the wishes of ECCO.
The European Cancer Congress (ECCO2017) is the only truly multidisciplinary oncology congress in Europe. Each year, it presents the most recent developments in individual disciplines from a multidisciplinary perspective. The congress has a top-notch educational programme developed by a leading team of multidisciplinary experts. ECCO2017 is the place for multidisciplinary networking and the exchange of ideas among leaders and practitioners from all oncology disciplines, patient advocates, policy makers and industry.
This year ECCO launched a new concept and replaced its traditional “exhibition hall” by the OncoHub, an area where all interaction and information exchange took place. Instead of using small and large booths, the delegates came into contact with a number of “hub” areas. Each hub, represents a company or a society and consists of tables or high bars and seating.
Through its 25 Member Societies – representing over 80,000 professionals – ECCO (the European CanCer Organisation) is the only multidisciplinary organisation that connects and responds to all stakeholders in oncology Europe-wide.

Friday (may 19th, 2017) was the annual Amsterdam Business Award Gala. The event to bond and reward entrepreneurs and to stimulate any improvement of the economy and viability of the city and region of Amsterdam. This eight edition was bigger than ever and was held in the Okura Hotel.

As in previous years, ACS was again the main sponsor. Due to a clear layout of the room and good use of lighting, we have successfully transformed a large conference hall into an atmospheric space.
A large stage was built in front of the hall with projection screens on both sides for the presentation, award ceremony and music performances. The stage was perfectly illuminated with lamps from every angle and the room was equipped with fantastic show lighting.

As a preferred supplier of the Amsterdam Rai, we have provided all the audiovisual facilities for EAN 2017. For five days, the Amsterdam Rai was the stage for neurologists from all over the world. About 6000 visitors attended the conference which took place from Friday 23rd to Tuesday 27th of June. One of the highlights was the short visit of our own Queen Maxima.
The temporarily large room, in which our queen participated on the front row for about half an hour, was created by us with big trusses and curtains. In the back of the room, our permanent staff of the Rai served the lighting.
In the G-corridor we facilitated two satellite rooms with audiovisual equipment. On the stage an informal setting was created with a lectern on the right for the usual presentations.

October 24-25, the two-day HR Tech World 2017 conference took place in the RAI Amsterdam. At the end of day 1, the audience was awaiting a big revelation, namely the unveiling of the new conference name: UNLEASH. The UNLEASH shows draw the world’s most influential visionaries, including the likes of Sir Richard Branson. In Amsterdam, Arianna Huffington, who was named by Time Magazine as one of the 100 most powerful and influential women in the world and is also known as founder of the Huffington Post, was the keynote speaker. A central topic was the impact of rapid technological advances on our industries, jobs and processes.
ACS had set up the halls 10, 11, 12 and all the rooms adjacent to the E-hall for HR Tech 2017. Hal 10 and 11, where the presentations were held, were fully provided with AV. The same went for the rooms in hall E. In hall 12 where the fair took place, 3 small stages were also equipped with AV.
The screen in hall 11 was specifically designed and purchased for this event.

On Saturday the 4th of November the sixth edition of the `Angels of Light Gala’ took place in the Grand Ballroom of the Hotel Okura Amsterdam, which managed to raise a record amount of € 400,680 for `Stichting WereldOuders’. The foundation provides a structural assistance to homeless children in nine countries throughout Latin America. The theme this year highlighted the importance of the family’s influence on a child, and so was aptly named, ‘We are family’. All proceeds will go to give the `family feeling’ back to the children who desperately need it.

Last week our annual customer event took place once again in Amsterdam. This year we also transformed our own warehouse into a festive location, where we organized an interactive workshop, followed by a welcoming networking reception.
Like other years, we wanted to give our guests ‘ something ‘ to think about. This year our guests were hopefully inspired by means of an interactive workshop of Else Kramer.
Else Kramer advises companies and organisations about Visual marketing, communication and identity. She taken us into the online world we are constantly watching and being watched and showed us how we both personal and business wise deal with social media. In addition Else gave us practical tips for making the right profile picture, which created lots of fun interaction.
As a surprise we had invited Jan Andreae, Jan is change and development professional and motivational speaker. Jan has recently written a book on Leadership and gave us a short pitch of the high lights of his book, which was very interesting. Afterwards we surprised all guests with a copy of his book.
As icing on the cake we had a Green Room on location where the craziest photos were taken. We have completed the afternoon with a cozy networking reception. All in all, we enjoyed the successful afternoon!

ACS and Eventresult held its annual customer event in the Amsterdam office on the 21st of April. Instead of the “traditional” programme with a speaker followed by drinks, we presented a new format for the event, with a self-build experience in the ACS warehouse!
The warehouse was transformed into a play paradise with four different areas, each stimulating the senses of the guests in alternative ways! The guests were separated into small groups and guided under the supervision of vivid hostesses through each area. There was a black light room containing a sea of balloons and a laser show, a mini-disco in the truck of our logistics partner, a barbers shop choir and a real waterfall. This creative approach provided a dazzling experience for guests and a refreshing way to network. Leaving a lasting impression!

Friday the 5th of June, the Amsterdam Marriott Hotel (1975) celebrated its 40th anniversary on very festive way in the new meeting spaces of the hotel. During the event, next to the particular history of the hotel, Marriott paid attention to her innovative future and the important role that Studio Piet Boon will play in it.
The challenge of ACS was to engage the 150 guests with an audiovisual show with the ultimate image, light and sound mix. ACS also facilitated a larger-than-life impactful video wall and provided media updates with a Twitter feed.

From Saturday 26 to Wednesday 30 September, the European Respiratory Society (ERS) Congress took place in RAI Amsterdam. This yearly congress revolves around the ERS mission to alleviate suffering from disease and drive standards for respiratory medicine globally.
This year’s edition hosted a record amount of 23.000 delegates. ACS facilitated ERS in accommodating all delegates and constructed 9 temporary rooms including integrated AV facilities and total set up, such as carpet, chairs etc. In addition, ACS also provided audio visual solutions for all rooms of the RAI conference centre.
During the conference, the Beursplein square in the centre of Amsterdam also hosted a public event focused on encouraging the citizens of Amsterdam to keep their lungs healthy. Free lung tests were offered along with exercise classes, spreading the importance of taking the active option for lung health. Working alongside the RAI Amsterdam and Amsterdam Marketing, ERS involved the city and its residents in the ERS Congress in a unique way. As a result, the ERS Congress became more visible and has a lasting impression on visitors and residents alike.

Thousands of Rwandans and friends of Rwanda from across Europe gathered for the 9th edition of Rwanda Day on the 3rd of October 2015.
The gathering served as a time to reconnect with Rwanda’s history, learn about the Rwanda of today and be an integral part of defining Rwanda’s future. Through an audio-visual exhibition showcasing Rwanda’s journey, participants had the opportunity to gain an in depth understanding of the steps that continue to shape the country.
ACS provided Rwanda day with the construction of a temporary room, suitable for 4500pax. In addition we facilitated all AV support, from panel discussions, general AV until high quality audio support. We were happy to contribute to a succesful Rwanda day 2015.

NH Collection Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky, was once again host to the spectacular ‘Angels of Light’ gala last November.
This annual initiative of WereldOuders, the foundation behind it, enables them to offer structural aid to homeless children in Latin America. Adopted in to so called ‘family homes’, they are offered the love, care and education they so desperately need. Besides preparing the children for a better future, WereldOuders also contributes to the entire community and rolls out educational and medical projects.
WereldOuders aims to expand capacity of the family houses and offer an additional 300 children shelter in 2016 using ‘Angels of Light Gala 2015’ revenues. For children still roaming the streets, exposed to violence and extreme poverty, a necessity. Fortunately this edition WereldOuders raise the record amount of € 273,000,= !
Structural assistance to homeless children is an important charity ACS supports, for WereldOuders the second year in a row. Managing Director Jessica Ylstra: “We are happy to contribute to a gala with such a huge social responsibility. Children are the future and we must see that we all contribute to that cause. ”

On May 15th, ACS hosted its annual event for business customers in Amsterdam in the warehouse of its IT partner Eventresult. The warehouse was completely transformed into an intimate congress room. Customers and partners of ACS and Eventresult were invited for an afternoon of entertainment and networking. They were welcomed by a holographic projection of ACS Managing Director, Jessica Ylstra.
The afternoon started with a workshow by guest speaker George Parker. George is a master of illusions and comedy and showed the audience how to see and experience new thoughts, leave the past behind and start rehearsing for the future! After the workshow there was time to mingle and guests were introduced to some innovative developments from Eventresult, including an interactive bar, where guests could order a drink via their smart phone. Once the order was ready an announcement was displayed on a round projection screen.
This was an innovative interactive afternoon and a lot of fun!

From August 31st until September 4th Amsterdam RAI saw close to 30,000 cardiology professionals participating in the annual congress of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC). ESC is renowned as the largest medical conference in Europe, as well as being the largest cardiovascular conference in the world.
ACS is the preferred partner of ESC, valued for their specialist knowledge and expertise in constructing temporary lecture halls and providing audio and visual equipment and technical support. ACS created custom built congress rooms to meet the needs of this high-profile medical conference. It constructed 20 temporary lecture rooms, each fully equipped with audio and visual equipment.
Every year ESC organises a spectacular opening ceremony in the plenary hall. This year’s ceremony was no exception with an impressive list of performances. ACS was proud to work together with their creative partner, and deliver the audio and visual equipment and technical support for this fantastic opening event.

The biannual congress of the The International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis was held in Amsterdam in July 2013. ACS and it IT partner Eventresult provided a total package solution, combining their services to accommodate over 8,500 delegates in an innovative way and create the ‘ultimate congress experience’.
At this biannual Congress, Eventresult established itself as a large scale supplier of ePoster presentations. It presented more than 2,700 posters, accessible on 74 touch screens. All delegates were able to search for posters on each multi touch screen by meeting, subject and speaker.
The ePosters were all located in a dedicated ePoster area, and fully branded with the ISTH 2013 theme.

On 26 April, ACS organised their annual event for business customers at their warehouse premises in Amsterdam. To demonstrate their expertise in constructing temporary congress rooms, the warehouse was transformed into an intimate theatre for 100 guests. A temporary foyer was also created by ACS for the reception of the event.

At the beginning of April, NH Hotels officially launched its new brand, NH Collection, in the Netherlands with the re-opening of three re-branded Amsterdam hotels in one day: the Doelen, Barbizon Palace and its flagship hotel, the Krasnapolsky.
The re-opening of three of the twelve Amsterdam hotels in the NH Hotel Group on Thursday 7 April was the official launch of the upper-upscale NH Collection brand in the Netherlands. The opening event took place in the Krasnapolsky Hotel.
As the Krasnapolsky’s audio-visual partner, ACS took care of all the audio-visual requirements across several different rooms for the opening. ACS built a stage for a DJ, singer and saxophonist in the Wintertuin using LED tiles. The content was specially made to complement the hotel’s particular lay-out. A countdown timer brought the public to the Grand Ballroom for the opening ceremony.
ACS also used rear projection spanning the entire stage opening. The result was stunning as the frame around the stage opening made it look as though the public were looking through an enormous flat screen. The special film with light and other special effects was followed by a celebratory toast that included the CEO of the NH Hotel Group, Federico Gonzáles Tejera, and the Managing Director of the Krasnapolsky, Herman Klok.
Then there was an optional tour of some of the hotel’s venues and rooms. We also had a surprise in store for those visiting the Royal Suite – the visitors could direct a group of musicians on Dam Square from the suite. At twilight a group of musicians were lit up to create a magical atmosphere. These lights ran on LEDs and batteries. After that, there was special lighting for the inevitable press wall and sound for the after party.
All in all, it was a highly enjoyable event that came about through good collaboration. We would like to congratulate the NH Collection Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky with its fabulous new appearance!
